Winter Trails Report: March 13th, 2025

Spring is just around the corner, and temperatures have been warmer in recent days.  With even more warm temperatures in the forecast, Voyageurs has stopped monitoring ice on the frozen lakes.  Once temperatures are above freezing for more than 24 hours, all ice would need to be re checked and measured.  There is still significant amounts of ice in many places, but some areas should be considered dangerous, and avoided. If you are not checking ice, we recommend that you do not drive on the ice.

Snowmobile trails throughout the park remain open, but stakes have been removed.  There is very little snow, so riding can be rough.  Ice is no longer being monitored, and there has been significant thawing in areas such as beaver ponds, creeks and shorelines.

If you decide to travel on the ice, remain cautious, and check ice as you go.  Although we have stopped monitoring the ice, the public can still use our roads and trails at their own risk.
