Wild Teaching and Learning: Spotting Spring Ephemerals

  • Lester Park 61 Lester River Road Duluth, MN, 55804 United States (map)

Wild Teaching and Learning is a series of nature-based learning experiences that center on themes of current seasonal happenings in Duluth and compares these findings to phenology at Voyageurs National Park. Sessions are designed for educators, though all adults are welcome to attend.

The April session investigates spring ephemerals, the first plants to emerge and flower as spring begins, before leaf-out. Ephemerals bloom for a very short period before dying back to their underground parts. Participants will receive an ephemeral guide and explore the trails of Lester park in search of the earliest blooms.

Bring your own water bottle and dress for the weather.

Cost per session: $15 – Scholarships available. For questions or scholarship requests, email mkupper@voyageurs.org
