Bring your classroom to Voyageurs National Park for an engaging educational experience! Field Experiences at Voyageurs National Park immerse students in the history, science and unique landscape of this region.
With funding from multiple grantors we are able to provide these field trips at no cost to your school. If transportation is a barrier, please reach out to us to access bus funding that can support travel to the park.
Fall Field Experiences at Voyageurs National Park
September 15 - 19, 2025
Grades K-5
Kindergarten: Outdoor Observations – Practice observation skills and learn about weather patterns.
1st grade: All About Beavers! – Learn about amazing beaver adaptations and the homes that they build within the park.
2nd grade: Trees of Voyageurs National Park – Identify key tree species in the park and how they have adapted to life in the north woods.
3rd grade: The Life of a Voyageur – Learn about the adventurous and dangerous life of Voyageurs that explored the park area.
4th grade Floating Classroom: Wild About Eagles – Learn about the amazing lives of eagles all while riding aboard our Voyageur boat! Our floating classroom is available to 4th grade classrooms only.
5th grade: Bird Migration Marathon – Discover the incredible journeys of migrating birds as they travel across continents. Learn about the challenges they face and the amazing adaptations that help them navigate the skies.
Spring Field Experiences at Voyageurs National Park
May 12 - 23rd, 2025
Grades K - 5
Lost in the Woods (1st grade): Join a Voyageurs National Park Ranger to learn essential survival skills and what to do if you become lost in the woods.
Looney Tunes (2nd grade): The iconic call of the Common Loon captures the feel of the north woods of Northern Minnesota. In this lesson, students will learn all about this fascinating bird, the dangers they face, and what we can do to help protect them.
Amazing Animal Adaptations (3rd grade): Students will learn about the fascinating ways in which animals have adapted to survive against harsh environments and predators.
Ojibwe Lifeways (4th grade): Through a detailed history and interactive games, students will learn about the culture and lives of the Ojibwe people.
Water Critters! (5th grade): Explore the fascinating world of macroinvertebrates right here in Voyageurs National Park!
