New name, same unwavering mission: Keep Voyageurs National Park Wild Forever
Our legacy began when a group of passionate community members sought to permanently protect the Rainy, Kabetogama, Namakan, and Sand Point region of northern Minnesota. Since then, Voyageurs National Park Association (VNPA) has served as the park’s advocacy and partner, raising thousands of dollars to protect Voyageurs and growing a strong collective of park advocates. Today, we are excited to share a new development with you.
We are proud to announce the Voyageurs National Park Association is now the Voyageurs Conservancy.
While our logo and name have changed, our 50-year legacy remains strong and our calling is unwavering - to keep Voyageurs National Park wild forever. Becoming the Voyageurs Conservancy reflects our expanding vision and commitment to the park.
Now, more than ever, we must engage new visitors, supporters, and the next generation in this call for conservation. We’ve undertaken a major rebranding effort to better communicate and execute our vision as a leading National Park partner. This new marketing change will help us grow our collective of park advocates, share our story with new communities, and expand our work in our core areas:
WILD VOYAGEURS: Environmental stewardship and conservation of the park’s amazing lands, waters, wildlife and starry skies
NEXT GENERATION: Educating children and young adults through the Voyageurs Classroom Initiative
VOYAGEURS EXPERIENCE: Improving the visitor experience and sustainable access for all
LOVE YOUR PARK: Growing our community of park supporters, volunteers, and advocates
A Vision for the Future
Over the years, we’ve listened to your stories and your vision for Voyageurs National Park’s future. A strong theme resonates from individuals of all backgrounds - we must conserve the waters and wild character of the park. The Voyageurs Conservancy is prioritizing stewardship by funding key wetland restoration projects that revitalize native wetland vegetation. As light pollution threatened wild spaces, we launched a joint Dark Sky Initiative to preserve our starry skies. Additionally, the Voyageurs Conservancy will expand its land acquisition efforts to permanently protect our land, waters, and wildlife habitats.
Conservation only exists when others are inspired by our public lands. As the Voyageurs Conservancy, we are strengthening our park partnership to expand educational programs. Visitors will benefit from engaging park programs that emphasize the uniqueness and importance of Voyageurs. Youth will participate in life-changing park experiences through our landmark Voyageurs Classroom Initiative. This includes our new Field Fellows internship program and adding additional youth crews to work on pertinent trail maintenance and historic preservation projects.
Our public lands continue to face unforeseen threats and challenges. As we plan for the future, I hope you will join our collective efforts to fund necessary park projects, conservation initiatives, and youth education. We hope you’ve been able to enjoy Voyageurs National Park or in nature close to home.
