Summer Tour Boat Reservations Open

Reservations for guided boat tours at the park this summer are now open! These tours offer an amazing opportunity to explore and learn about the park with a ranger. You’ll get to visit historic sites in the park, watch for wildlife, and enjoy the beautiful scenery! We highly recommend booking your tour well in advance, as they usually fill up ahead of time. To book your tour, go to recreation.gov and search “Voyageurs National Park Tours". Tours for September 2019 will be available to book starting June 1, 2019.

You can check the park’s website for updated information. The schedule we’ve included below is taken from recreation.gov, and we can’t guarantee its accuracy, as the park may update these dates and times.

Here is a summary of the tours offered this summer (June 16-August 31):

Grand Tour: Boards at the Rainy Lake Visitor Center, 1797 Town Road 342, International Falls, MN 56649. Discover the wonders and beauty of Voyageurs National Park. The captain will navigate Rainy Lake in search of active eagle nests, abundant wildlife, and a historic commercial fishing camp. This tour includes a stop at Little American Island (1/4 mile accessible walk) where gold was discovered in the 1890s. Tour runs from 2 - 4:30 pm June 16 through August 31 on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. 

Kettle Falls Cruise (Kabetogama Lake): Boards at the Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center, 9940 Cedar Lane, Kabetogama, MN. 56669. Voyage to the Historic Kettle Falls Hotel. This tour takes you on a cultural and natural history tour of the park. Spend 2 hours aboard the Amik tour boat getting to the hotel. Once at the hotel, spend 2 hours on land dining and touring the site and nearby dam. Finally, enjoy a 1.5 hours cruise on your return route. Tour runs June 17 through August 30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 10 am to 3:30 pm. Please note, dining at the Kettle Falls Hotel is an option although meal cost is not included in the tour price. Visitors may also choose to bring their own lunch to enjoy at the hotel picnic grounds.

Ellsworth Rock Gardens Tour and Eagle Watch: Board the Amik tour boat at the Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center at 9940 Cedar Lane, Kabetogama, MN 56669. This tour will cruise Kabetogama Lake to Ellsworth Rock Gardens. At the gardens, join a ranger for a 1/4 mile tour (not accessible) of the unique rock sculptures, building remnants, and winding paths. Tours run from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm on Thursdays from June 20 through August 29, 2019.
