Solar Observation & Northern lights

Join Voyageur Conservancy's dark sky enthusiast and education specialist, Jesse Gates on a hike along Sullivan Bay. At the end of the trail you will safely observe the Sun using our specialized solar scope and learn about the Sun's role in creating the northern lights. We will also discuss Voyageurs National Park's place as a designated International Dark Sky Park and what that means, why it's important to preserve natural darkness, and what you can do to combat light pollution.

TIME: 10 AM - 12 PM

WHERE: Sullivan Bay Trailhead (near Voyageurs National Park’s Ash River Visitor Center)

Wear comfortable shoes and prepare with rain gear and bug spray (Sullivan Bay is an easy flat trail that totals 1.5 miles RT)
