Hike with a Scientist: Walking Through Time - The Geologic Formation of Voyageurs

Join Voyageurs Conservancy and Chris Hemstad for a hike through the geologic formations at Voyageurs National Park.

The morning will start with a short presentation on the formation of Voyageurs, 2.6 billion years ago. The group will then caravan a short distance to a site where we will walk and view multiple examples of geologic formations common to Voyageurs National Park.

WHEN: Saturday, June 17th

WHEN: 9 - 11 AM

WHERE: Meet at Rainy Lake Visitor Center

Be Prepared: 

  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather. 

  • Bring sunscreen and bug spray if desired. 

  • Bring a water bottle. 

  • The walk will not be strenuous, but we will be on our feet walking and standing for 60-90 minutes.

  • Registration is required and will be capped at 25 participants.
