Backcountry Sites Closed For Flood Assessment

Due to recent high water levels within the park, all of the park’s backcountry trails, campsites, day use sites, and day use boat rentals have been closed.

This closure does not affect most frontcountry boat-in campsites on the park’s four large lakes, Rainy, Namakan, Kabetogama, and Sand Point. Boat-in sites remain open unless previously closed due to eagle nesting or high water.

The park staff is evaluating and repairing damage in the backcountry. The re-opening of these closed sites is targeted for July 21, 2014.

Visitors who wish to rebook their reservations for the backcountry may do so starting on July 21, 2014 by visiting www.recreation.gov.
